During this year’s finals of the Bank Windhoek Business Orators League for Secondary Schools, nine learners were chosen to be trained as directors of ceremonies, to perform this function at the Bank Windhoek Kidz Fun Fair 2010. The past weekend the training for these young learners was completed.

“Unfortunately one of the learners could not be present at the training, but we are extremely satisfied with how the training of the eight directors of ceremonies went” said Riaan van Rooyen, Head of Corporate Communication and Social investment at Bank Windhoek and also one of the facilitators of the training programme. He continued: “It was refreshing to see how easily the children overcame their fear of public speaking and how well they co-operated during the training. Bank Windhoek is excited to be involved with the development of this group of learners and they are sure to impress the visitors to the Bank Windhoek Kidz Fun Fair on 18 and 19 September 2010”.

The aspirant directors of ceremonies received training in the full spectrum of public speaking, including microphone skills. The other facilitator of the training was Robin Tyson, well-known Namibian radio and television personality, as well as a lecturer in Media Studies at UNAM.

The eight learners who received training were Adrië Hendricks, Shomany Keister, Vistorina Namene, Trisha Mwewa (all from Jan Mohr Secondary School), Michael Scriven (Windhoek Gymnasium), Christaline Mushongo (Outjo Secondary School), Ndina Kamati (Delta Secondary School) and Joseph Lewis (Gobabis Gymnasium).
The directors of ceremonies will be in action during the upcoming Wii Tournaments which will be held on 4 September in Maerua Shopping Mall and on 11 September in the Wernhil Shopping Centre.
