“Some watch things happen. Some wonder what has happened.
And others make things happen.”

Yes, here at Dawid we make things happen. This weekend (19 and 20 June) many came to witness a new side to the game of darts. Ms O’Malley, as facilitator ensured a fun-filled yet educational programme.

Schools from the different regions, 34 boys and 29 girls were represented at this workshop and trials. Mr R. O’Malley, President of Zone V1 was the guest speaker. An interesting presentation on HIV/AIDS in Sport was given by Ms A. Nauses, a health professional. The workshop was also honoured by the presence of Solly Duiker from NSSU. He took time out of his busy schedule to address those attending on PDI upliftment. The coaches too were given a refresher course on the formation of clubs, playing the game, looking at technique, practice, discipline and many other aspects as well as on how to organize or manage competitions. Mr Kassie Pretorius from S.A. shared his expertise in this regard.

And then there were the trials! All players were literally giving it their best shot. The top players were ranked as follows and will represent the country at the ZONE IV YOUTH DARTS CHAMPIONSHIP in Lusaka, Zambia from 24 August to 31 August.

1. Levonne Mouton - Khomas (DBHS)

So why play darts you might ask? Here are just a few reasons:
• Manifests a quick mathematical mind
• Developes self control
• Teaches dedication and discipline
• It is a safe sport
• Develops hand and eye co-ordination
