Swakopmund will be bustling with exciting, entertaining and fun-filled performing art productions during December 2010. Holiday revelers in Swakopmund can look forward to “Under the Camelthorn Tree”, the popular “Swakopmunder Musikwoche, “Damiaan” and “Voete van ‘n Gemsbok”.

“The Bank Windhoek Arts Festival is excited to bring various shows of high standard to Swakopmund. We decided to shift the focus of our December 2010 Arts Festival programme to the coast, as many people throughout Namibia flock to the coast during the festive season”, said Riaan van Rooyen, Head of Corporate Communication and Social Investment at Bank Windhoek.

“Under the Camelthorn Tree”, is a mythical and mystical Laboratory Theatre production about the spirit of the heritage tree and it is written by Prof Aldo Behrens. It will be performed from 2 to 4 December at the Bank Windhoek NPS Kulturaula and tickets will be on sale from 26 November 2010, at the Swakopmunder Buchhandlung in Swakopmund.

Classical music lovers can look forward to the “Swakopmunder Musikwoche” from 14 to 19 December 2010, also at the Bank Windhoek NPS Kulturaula.

Jo Decaluwe, a popular director and actor from Gent, Belgium, will perform “Damiaan”, a one man play based on a Roman Catholic Saint on 19 and 20 December, at the Roman Catholic Church in Swakopmund.

Back by public demand is the production, “Voete van ‘n Gemsbok”, a colourful and entertaining musical with South African folk singer, Randall Wicomb, and the Mascato Coastal Youth Choir. The premiere will be on 21 December 2010, and the production will run on 22, 23, 28 and 29 December, at the Bank Windhoek NPS Kulturaula.

“All the BWAF theatre productions are suitable for the whole family”, concluded Riaan.
